You hear the term a LOT – Financial Freedom…now according to Wikipedia, here’s the definition:
Financial independence is a term generally used to describe the state of having sufficient personal wealth to live indefinitely without having to work actively for basic necessities . In the case of many individuals whose financial circumstances fit this description, their assets generate income that is greater than their expenses.
But this is all so “money based” it’s all about “financial wealth…”
I couldn’t help ask myself what financial freedom meant specifically to ME. The more I thought about it, I was surprised to see that it really had very little to do with money for me.
Don’t get me wrong, money IS essential, but the first thought that came to mind when I heard “financial freedom” was: “Doing whatever I want, whereever I want, whenever I want without worrying about paying my bills…”
Yes, some will argue that that’s the same thing as above. But, notice mine has nothing to do with “not working” – I LOVE WORKING. I love what I do and would shrivel into dust if I had to sit around all day…
So, what is FINANCIAL FREEDOM to ME?
I don’t know…why not?
Was on my way to New York for a conference and a friend and I decided to stay here for 2 nights on the way and just have some fun! It’s 2:39 PM as I write this, I was too tired to go gambling or walking around for now, so I’m just doing some work…
That’s it…that’s financial freedom to me.
What is it to you? It deserves some thought!
